Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition Revealed!
Where earlier today there was a mysterious countdown clock, there is now the official announcement page for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition. Being put together by the folks at Wizards of the Coast, Atari, and Overhaul Games, a studio made up of former Bioware employees, this new project will include (what else?) enhanced editions of Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II.For those unfamiliar, the Baldur’s Gate series were Bioware’s first big claim to fame before being introduced to the console space with the release of Knights of the Old Republic. Still earning praise to this day, the series was set in the Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting of The Forgotten Realms and featured a customizable protagonist, a wide variety of NPCs to befriend and enlist in your quest, and a bevy of quests and loot to uncover. It’s a great way to see the principles that laid the groundwork for Bioware’s future games, beyond being great games in and of themselves. The Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition website can be found here.
