Microsoft Plans To Offer Subscription Based Xbox 360’s
Seems like Microsoft is planning to go the subscription route with their Xbox Kinect package. $99 and a two-year contract bags you a 4Gig Xbox, Kinect camera, and XboxLive gold pass for two years. For $15 a month, that’s not a bad deal if you always wanted an Xbox and never had the cash to plunk down for the whole system upfront. .
The difference between buying an Xbox outright or going this subscription route is about $40 give or take. It’s definitely a great way to make sure they’ve nabbed every single person they can who were on the fence about getting a video game system. Besides I’m sure there would’ve been a lot less iPhone users if there was no subscription option other than to pay the $700 for their phone upfront. Though it’s really hard to justify this completely at this late in the Xbox 360’s life cycle. If you have no interest in the Kinect, for a hundred dollars more you can have the arcade bundle, contract free. Had this been around when the Xbox was released. Spending $99 with a 2 year, $15/month contract, over a $400 system with no Xbox Live service would’ve been an easier decision to make.
